We've released a new podcast in which we ask three leading thinkers to share their predictions for what the next 12 months will hold for HR and L&D.

What are your goals?

    Pondering that pic of the net, suspect the same old priority will apply to many in 2016 - to eliminate or at least minimise all the situations that result in out of control colleagues in their own team making needless, embarrassing and damaging own-goals.
  • Hi Steve. My work related goals this year include substantial recruitment to meet increased business headcount needs, restructuring a number of roles and potentially managing a change to our pensions provider in light of the fact that our current provider have advised that they may not be able to meet the needs of our staff going forward following a change in the structure of the pension provider's offering. Personal goals including going to the gym three times a week with the aim of trying to get fit and lose some weight ahead of a family wedding later in the year. Hopefully the increased exercise will also help to manage my work related stress levels.

    One of my favourite facetious quotes - "aim low, achieve your goals, avoid disappointment!" ;-)

    But if I'm not going to follow that then my goals are to grow my internship programme by 30%, cut back on manager hand holding - complete with a training programme to build their confidence in tackling straight forward issues head on; manage my department through a tricky period where we are currently without a Head of HR and my administrator is going on mat leave in a few weeks. There are other challenges ahead but for now its about treading water until things are more stable!
