Training Agreements

Hi - does anyone have a study agreement which discusses repaying study costs should the employee leave the company in a certain timeframe?

Thanks

Sam

    Hi Sam

Yes, I do, PM me with your email address and I'll send you a copy

    Regards

    Helen

  • It's worth noting that if this isn't in the employee's contract, it is very hard to recover this if they decide to leave.

Sam - Sarah is right - and we've a long list of examples to prove it.

Helen - any chance you could make make your agreement 'generic' and post here? Understand if not.

  • Hi  Thanks for your comments, yes I understand - its for new employees coming in, not for existing studying arrangements.  Thanks Sam

    Hi Helen

Had a look at the document you kindly posted and generally think it looks fine

Just a few small observations - many would exclude termination of employment for reason of redundancy from requirement to repay / the repayment schedule tapers from 100% to zero over 12 months whereas many would incorporate a period and level of taper tailored to the 'payback' the course / qualification brings to the employer / there is no spelled-out provision for any monies owing once they're off the payroll to become a debt to the employer, recoverable in the civil courts if needs be

    Hi Helen,
    Hope you're well.
I'm very new to this community; starting my CIPD level 5 in November, but have been asked by my senior management team to create a training agreement for employees. Is your master agreement attached here still applicable?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Best wishes,
    Nikki

    Welcome Nikki

As far as I know, little or nothing has changed legally since this was posted, but same applies to my peripheral observations about it as above

Much as I wouldn't ever needlessly want to contribute towards lining the pockets of employment lawyers, getting a *good* one to look-over the agreement you propose to use - for a sensible / modest fixed prearranged fee might be well worth it in this instance

Thanks for coming back to me, David. Most appreciated!
