November 2015

Hello.

Just a heads up that when we launch the new online community later this month... we will not be bringing over discussion threads older than 1 Jan 2013.

There are about 50 exceptions - which I have hand-picked. These will be migrated over to the new community platform.

What does this mean?

If you have 'favourited' any discussions that pre-date 2013... these will be lost. So please capture any content you wish to 'save'... before Weds 18 November.

Anything more recent should appear as 'bookmarks' against your profile in the new community.

Any questions, please just ask (below).

    Hi Steve

Could you let us know the 50ish ones you intend to keep so we could identify which ones we would have to capture ourselves?

Also, regarding capturing that content - does this mean we should copy and paste the content, or would saving the specific url for that particular discussion work?

    Thanks!

    Hi Owen...

Cut and paste what you might find of value. After we 'go live' with the new community, the old community (i.e. this one) will be 'turned off'.

Most of the older threads I'm preserving have over 20 posts.

    Thanks Steve

What sort of timescale do we have to complete the cut & paste?

    Cheers,

    Owen

  • Hi Steve,

Might be a silly question but is it discussions that started (i.e. first post) prior to 1st Jan 2013 or where the latest post is prior to 1st Jan 2013?  There are some threads that may have started a few years back but have been added to over the years with the most recent posts being after 1st Jan 2013.

    thanks

  • Contributions from Peter Cunningham on capability/conduct, disciplinary & grievance - there are some very informative posts on stress in the workplace etc.

@Owen - please do this between now and next Weds (18th).

@Jeny - Ha! We were only discussing this (in the team) earlier today. All threads (bar the exceptions mentioned above) started before 1 Jan 2013 will NOT be carried over.

You are quite right that there are some discussions that are 'older' than that, but to which people may have posted more recently. I'm looking through these threads individually and will decide whether to bring them with us. There aren't as many as I first thought however.

You should assume that any thread STARTED in 2012 or before... will no longer be accessible.

@Joanne - yes, Peter's three threads WILL be carried over. Essential reads.

    1. On the subject of "revelations" made to us "in confidence" when in our professional role.

    2. How does an employer deal with someone who, called to attend a disciplinary hearing, promptly goes sick, suffering from "stress”?

    3. The differences between conduct and capability is the exercise of will.

    Hi Steve

what about threads that we've contributed to? At the moment we can access these from our profile - will we be able to access pre 2013 threads in the same way once the new platform is launched?

    thanks

Hi Emma... everything before 1 Jan 2013 (bar 58 threads I wanted to preserve) will not be accessible after 6pm on Weds (19th).
  • Hi,

Can I just check (if possible) whether you have saved the "Standalone HR - how do you cope?" post started on 14th August 2012?

It's about 90 or so posts so I thought I'd double check before copying and pasting them all!

If you haven't already decided to keep it could I make a plea that you do so - it's been very useful for me in my role.

    Many thanks in advance.

Hi Catherine - yes, that is one of my favourites. It will be an active discussion thread on the new community :)
  • That's great to know!

    Thanks for confirming.

Hi Steve. I realise this is a bit late in asking so apologies for that - BUT - where could I find a piece written by Peter about "no such thing as a private conversation" - it was so inspiring and brilliantly written, I want to show my daughter ! thank you Rose
  • In reply to Rose Herridge:

    Steve - don't worry - I have found it ! thanks anyway.

    :)

For others... the thread Rose was looking for is right at the top of the list on this wiki - a bank of 'threads of note'...
