More and more people are involved in group discussions during which they have to influence people over whom they have no direct authority. This tool enables participants to appreciate and receive feedback on the core behaviours necessary to influence a group of people. It does so, first, by your agreeing with them exactly what behaviours help and what behaviours hinder group influencing, and then by asking participants to undertake a discussion during which they are observed.
There are two versions of the latter discussion exercise, one slightly more complex than the other. You can use one or the other or both in sequence if you want participants to practise two discussions, implementing in the second the feedback they received from the first. Because the second discussion exercise is more complex, it has an 'expert's answer'.
