Having difficult conversations with employees following absence

All managers will have to carry out difficult conversations with employees, and these are likely to arise during return-to-work interviews following absence. Awkward questions regarding the reason for the absence or length of absence may need to be raised, and in some cases disciplinary procedures may need to be initiated. It is vital that managers are prepared for such conversations and are able to handle them in a constructive manner.
