Obtaining and understanding absence data

Last Published  01 August 2012

It is essential that managers have access to up-to-date and accurate absence data. Organisations should have in place a procedure outlining the frequency and format of such data provision. This data can then be analysed at different levels throughout the organisation to identify patterns in absence and any common reasons for it. An organisation may also wish to benchmark its data against that of similar organisations. Data collation also enables organisations to set attendance targets.
