This tool introduces the STAR model of questioning which refers to a Situation involving a Task that requires Action to produce Results. Using the STAR format managers can explore a statement or clarify a situation before giving their opinion. It is especially effective when talking with a member of their team and encouraging him or her to talk about a specific situation. By putting aside the tendency to give their opinion, managers can use this technique to find out by active listening.
