Programming assertiveness

Last Published  01 August 2012

Our expectations of a situation are likely to determine its outcome: we are programmed to believe that our past experiences with a 'difficult' person, for example, will guarantee us another difficult experience with them in the future. By reprogramming our thought processes it is possible to turn the situation into a positive one; through being assertive we can nurture a more satisfactory response in the person we are dealing with.

Tool aim
  • To provide participants with a way of changing unassertive behaviour to more assertive behaviour when dealing with difficult people and difficult situations.
