Identifying the reasons for poor performance

Last Published  01 August 2012

Because managers have overall accountability for the performance of their staff, they are bound to encounter situations where performance is less than acceptable and where remedial action is required to get performance back on track. Doing so is easier if managers first understand the main reasons for underperformance so that they can take the most appropriate action.

This tool enables them to understand what the reasons for underperformance might be and to apply that understanding to case studies and, finally, to their own situations.

Tool aim
  • To help managers identify and understand the reasons for underperformance.
