Sometimes the difference between acceptable and exceptional performance is high achievement in a few subtle aspects of ability or behaviour such as initiative, enthusiasm, leadership, etc. These aspects of performance can be fundamental to results but, because they are difficult to quantify, they can all too easily be neglected.
Managers who can identify these aspects and communicate them to staff are more likely to encourage high performance from their staff and also to agree performance assessments with their staff. This tool enables participants to identify such subtle aspects in case studies, then for their own staff and, finally, to differentiate between different levels of performance for each aspect.
