Resolving typical appraisal problems

Whether conducting a formal appraisal or an informal performance review, most managers know that there can be problems: appraisees who are unwilling to accept criticism, who want to 'opt out' of the system, who feel aggrieved at an unrelated issue and want that to dominate the discussion, and so on.
